Dr Carmen Simo 

GP

Dr Simo qualified in Spain and worked there until invited to come to the UK on an International Recruitment Scheme 18 years ago; an already very experienced GP, having worked in multiple surgeries across Liverpool and Knowsley. 

She became Senior Partner of the practice in 2016 having held the position of GP assistant first, following the retirement of Dr Brendan Moran on 31/10/17 and Dr Thomas Kinloch on 31/03/2019. She speaks three languages (Spanish, Italian and English). 

She has one son and likes to spend her valuable time with him and her family. 

Dr Benton

GP

MBChB, MRCS, MRCGP, DOHNS

Male
Dr Benton qualified from Liverpool Medical School in 2002 and has been working as a GP in practices across Knowsley since 2009, with over a decade’s experience as a GP partner.

He remembers very well being a medical student at this practice for a year under the tutelage of Drs Kinloch and Moran in 2000/2001.

He was therefore especially pleased to be able to rejoin the surgery as a Partner working alongside Dr Simo in December 2022.

His special interests comprise Ear, Nose and Throat, Men’s Health and Joint Injections.

He has a teenage son and daughter at home and enjoys running and cycling in his free time.

Dr Zaheer

From time to time we help with the training of medical students from Liverpool University.

Normally, four students, based at Whiston Hospital, are attached to the practice for a year. They spend some time each week (usually Wednesday mornings) seeing patients in the surgery or on home visits and receive tuition in the form of tutorials from the doctors, usually about the clinical conditions of the patients that they have seen.

Their attachment to the practice gives them an invaluable opportunity to see a variety of problems that they would have to spend years attached to a Hospital to come into contact with and is a very important part of their medical education.

Your co-operation in allowing the students to talk to you or to observe your consultations will be appreciated.
However, it is your absolute right not to see the students if you don’t wish to.

Julie Daly is a nurse prescriber who helps to run the chronic disease management programme and undertakes duties such as well person health checks, immunisations, cervical smear tests, providing contraceptive advice and routine health assessments on elderly patients.

Over time our receptionist in particular become highly skilled at finding the best way for you to be seen. All questions that they ask of a clinical nature are questions that they have been instructed to ask to help point you in the right direction for your benefit.

Without these vital members of our team we would not be able to function. They are the frontline and it’s a very difficult job that they do.

Attached Staff

As detailed elsewhere, the partners employ a full time assistant GP, a Practice Nurse, a Practice Administrator/Office Manager, several part-time admin staff to help with routine reception and clerical duties, and a Medical Secretary.

As well as the doctors’ staff there are other Primary Care staff who work in the Halewood Centre assisting the Practice.
